International and Local Awards in One Month
November 17, 2012 – Métis Capital Housing Corporation (MCHC) and its sister organization, Métis Urban Housing Corporation, reached a new height of recognition this week, when they received two major awards on successive days in London, England and at home in Edmonton.
A team of senior management travelled to England to participate in a major awards ceremony organized by the London-based Globals organization to recognize achievements in a wide range of housing-related services.
The Globals Over 50s Housing/HealthCare award for “The Most Outstanding Developer of Affordable Barrier-free Housing for Seniors in the World” was presented to Métis Capital Housing Corporation.
The following day, at a lunch in Edmonton’s Shaw Conference Centre, marking National Philanthropy Day, Metis Capital Housing Corporation was selected from seven different organizations to receive the Social Services Award. The Corporation was nominated for the award by Habitat for Humanity for its work with Habitat in creating interest-free homes for aboriginal families.

Habitat for Humanity Edmonton (HFHE) welcomed a family to its new home in the Beverly neighbourhood Wednesday.
The renovated house is one of five being fixed up through a unique partnership with the Metis Capital Housing Corporation (MCHC).
